Training Program: Executive Coaching for Managers. ICF Level 1 Program

Vision and goals of the program

The Executive Coaching Program aims to train managers to develop their coaching skills to enhance the performance of their teams, to develop coaching activities within corporations as internal coaches or act as external coaches. To be admitted in the program, participants should have experience in managing teams.

After completing the program, participants:

  • Will acquire practical and theoretical knowledge about coaching
  • Will have expanded opportunities to develop skills under the guidance of faculty.
  • Will understand how to apply coaching in a corporate environment
  • Will assume ICF ethical standards
  • Will have ICF’s basic coaching skills and know how to use them in a coaching process.
  • Will develop leader coach skills

This program is accredited with 97,5 hours and is  a Level 1 ICF Program

Module 1

Introduction to coaching

This module will introduce the basics of coaching and learn participants on how to build a trustful relationship with the client.

In this module, participants will receive individual coaching supervision and the first of the three 1 hour coaching sessions that they will receive during the program.

  • Introduction to ICF’s coaching concept and philosophy
  • What is and what is not coaching
  • Types of coaching
  • Introduction to professional coaching kils
  • Powerful questions
  • Valus and limiting beliefs
  • Levels of listening
  • Self knowledge

Module 2

Coaching practices and individual supervision

In this remote module, participants will have to go through some material and develop their coaching practice, doing at least 3 sessions with a client.

They should record a session with a client and select 20 minutes of it to have a 1 hour supervision with a certified supervisor.

Participants will also receive the second individual 1 hour coaching session to deepen in their coaching practice.

Module 3

Sharpening your skills

In this module we shall concentrate on how use the different skills and combine them in a coaching process. We shall have emphasis on the “action part of coaching”, developing and accountable action plan and following it.

Participants will receive individual coaching supervision and the last of the two individual coaching sessions included in program.

Concepts to be developed:

  • Coaching skills: Coaching presence, use of language: direct communication, clarify, intuition, giving recognition, challenging, the use of paraphrase and metaphors.
  • Finding powerful perspectives
  • Facilitating learning: models and frameworks
  • Developing a coaching culture
  • The Leader Coach
  • Feed back y feed forward
  • Managing progress & accountability

Use of selected videotaped participants’ coaching exercises as a base to discuss coaching skills.

Module 4

Mentoring Sessions and Perfomance evaluation

This final module concentrates on developing the participants’ individual coaching competencies through practising coaching and receiving mentor coaching to strengthen their skills within the ICF Core Competencies.

Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on an observed or recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability in coaching in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.

Mentor Coaching should take place over an extended time (three-month minimum) in a cycle that allows for listening and feedback from the Mentor Coach while also allowing reflection and practice on the part of the individual being mentored.

As part of the Credentialing process, applicants must pass a Performance Evaluation in which their coaching will be assessed to the ICF Core Competences.

There will be practical exercises in every module

Training hours

The program has a total of 64  training hours, and each participant will receive 2 hours of individual coaching plus 5 individual supervision, including 1 hour of supervision on a real coaching session previously recorded.

Participants will be requested to allocate study time to complete exams at the end of each module.

Coaching philosophy, model and approach

The program is based in a multi-sytem methodology in which we combine classroom teaching, individual and group exercises.

The coaching approach used in the program is based on the core competencies of ICF competencies with contributions inspired by the co-active model developed by CTI, in the ORSC organization and systems coaching  and the Feedback & Feedforward model developed by John Whitmore.

Delivery Method

The program offers a blended learning experience for the participants. Including a mix of faculty-led discussions, storytelling, interactive methods, peer-to-peer, practical/hands-on coaching, demonstrations, and video recording sessions.

Training model
  • Classroom training: Co-leaders presentations, group dynamics, coaching demonstrations, coaching and peer coaching exercises, role-plays, video shoots and group feed back of selected fragments, group discussions and feedback from facilitators. Individual Coaching Sessions
  • 360 evaluation to all participants and group and individual return
  • Remote module: individual coaching sessions and supervision of recorded coaching sessions with real clients.
  • Individual study: Manual of the program, recommended articles, online support from facilitators.
  • Assessments: written exam at the end of the first and third module.
  • Language of program and materials: English

Faculty

Patricia Ferrando: Philologist from the University of Navarra, MBA from IESE, Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by ICF Professional Coach and Co-Active Coaching (CPCC) by CTI. She also is Licensed Practitioner of the Science of Happiness at Work. Patricia has an extended experience as an executive coach with over 4,200 hours of practice and solid experience in training and energizing groups.

Marta Salgado: Graduate in Law from the Complutense University in Madrid as well as a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from the CEOE in Madrid.  She is certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as Professional Certified Coach (PCC), by the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) as Certified Co-Active Coach and by the Centre for Right Relationship Systems as Systems and Organizational Coach. Marta has an extended experience as an executive coach with over 4,000 hours of practice and practice and solid experience in training and energizing groups

Tuition fees per participant: 2,400€€

These fees include participation in the program, didactic materials, coffee breaks and meals.
