Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

ICF defines coaching as a partnership between coach and client aimed at eliciting a deep reflection and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s changing and complex environment. The coach recognizes the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believes that each client is whole, creative and resourceful. On this basis, the coach’s responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve

  • Encourage client self-discovery

  • Support client-generated solutions and strategies

  • Hold the client accountable for their decisions

This process helps clients radically improve their outlook on life and work, while enhancing their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.

As in all professions, not all coaches are of equal quality and professionalism. A good start is to check the training and certifications of each coach as well as the demands of the clients they work with. In addition, the years, level, functional area and sector of previous professional experience, will advise you to choose one coach or another according to your own needs. Before deciding on a particular coach, after having checked the seriousness and level of their training and experience, it is highly advisable to have a no-obligation interview to determine if there is a good fit and fluidity in the relationship, in order to facilitate a good harmony in the coaching process.

A certification validates that the coach has completed a training program. An accreditation confirms that the coach has met additional requirements, such as practical experience and professional evaluation.

An MCC coach has extensive experience and advanced mastery of key competencies. This ensures an exceptional level of coaching, ideal for complex challenges or ambitious goals.

What is ICF?

The International Coach Federation (ICF) is the world’s largest association of professional coaches, with over 23,000 members in 123 countries. Founded 20 years ago, its mission is to promote the highest ethical and quality standards in the coaching profession. ICF offers three types of certifications, each requiring specific training and a certain number of coaching hours:

  • ACC: for certified coaches with over 60 hours of coaching experience.
PCC: for certified coaches with over 500 hours of coaching experience.
MCC: for certified coaches with over 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

An ICF-certified coach has undergone a rigorous training and evaluation process, ensuring they uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. This guarantees you will receive a high-quality service.

They are the foundations that guide a professional coach, such as active listening, building trust, clear communication, and creating awareness. These competencies ensure an effective coaching process.

An accredited coach offers a structured process, professionalism, confidentiality, and a personalized approach to help you effectively achieve your goals.

We have built a strong reputation based on our rigor, outstanding listening skills, creativity, and deep commitment to our clients.

There are many reasons why someone might choose to work with a coach. Some of the most common reasons our clients share with us include:

  • Developing leadership skills

  • Navigating professional change: promotion, relocation, moving to a new country, etc.

  • Personal and professional growth

  • Finding internal resources to face significant changes at work or in life

  • Developing new competencies

  • Boosting self-esteem

  • Deepening self-awareness

  • Improving interpersonal relationships with superiors, peers, and team members

  • Achieving work-life balance

  • Changing career paths

  • Feeling a lack of purpose in one’s current job

Unlike a psychologist, a coach doesn’t have patients — they have clients. If you’re facing a challenge, looking to grow personally and professionally, making important decisions, or seeking deeper self-awareness, working with a certified coach is the most suitable option. When dealing with a psychological disorder, it’s best to consult a mental health professional.

A coach, unlike a consultant, does not provide solutions or give advice. Instead, they guide the client through reflection so they can discover their own answers and solutions. Likewise, a coach does not share personal professional experience to advise someone more junior — that’s the role of a mentor, who shares knowledge and experiences.

How long does it take to see results in a coaching process?

It depends on your goals, but many clients begin to notice changes in their outlook and abilities within the first few sessions. Typically, a full program can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

We have helped managers improve their communication, delegate with confidence, make strategic decisions and strengthen the motivation of their teams.

Not necessarily. Coaching is also useful if you aspire to a managerial position or if you simply want to improve how you deal with professional and personal challenges.

Of course! You don’t need any previous experience. Coaching is a personalized experience, designed to suit your needs and level of development.
